Meet Your IRAA Officer Candidates

Thank you to those of you who took an active interest in becoming an officer of IRAA! This year there are six positions that will be voted upon at the upcoming annual IRAA meeting on May 30th at 5pm via Zoom. Below are the open officer positions with the candidates that returned their IRAA Candidate Intent forms by May 15th, 2020, the publicized deadline. The candidates for each office are listed below each office position.

The call for candidates in the 2020 IRAA Officer Elections is now open! IRAA members that are interested in serving as a part of the IRAA Executive Board can declare their intentions by completing and submitting the Intent Form, Candidate Questionnaire and a headshot/photo to iraa@ptk.org before May 15th, 2020.

Want to join the IRAA Board as a District Rep?

For this blog I will list off the similarities between being an IRAA District Rep and a Chapter Officer, but first a little back story about myself. I am a recent community college graduate who has served 3.5 years as a Chapter Officer for my Phi Theta Kappa Chapter. These positions included: Communications Manager Internal/External and Vice President of Fellowship. I also served as the Social Media Captain for the Illinois Region of Phi Theta Kappa. So now that you know a little more about me and I have shown some credibility, let’s get started, shall we.

The Golden Opportunity Scholarship Challenge

Ok...so even after having been a member of this wonderful organization for almost 26 years I guess I shouldn't be surprised at anything. Especially when a fellow member asks me to do something that I've never done before...and that is write a "blog". I guess one of the toughest parts of this assignment was coming up with a topic since one wasn't assigned to me and I was given free range. Give me a topic and I'll easily talk for 20 minutes on it. Don't give me one and I'll spend 20 days trying to pick the topic.

Hallmark Season Is Here

It is finally Hallmarks season everyone! Now is the perfect time to get together with the chapter and reflect on all your hard work, dedication, and teamwork. Your achievements deserve to be recognized at both the regional and international level. With finals drawing to a close, it’s time to take all your chapter’s planning, events, projects, research, collaborations and so forth and write award-winning write-ups. Here are some tips for writing outstanding Hallmark entries.
